Source & Conversation Retention Notice
When you upload a document, image, or bounded video, KESTREL keeps the original privately in your account -- not just for the browser tab or session that created it. This lets you close the tab, sign out, come back later, or sign in from a different device, and still see the same source next to the same conversation.
The original and your workspace conversation (questions, KESTREL's answers) are both retained until you explicitly delete that workspace. Deleting a workspace deletes both together. Signing out, letting your session expire, or a service restart never deletes either one -- only an explicit deletion by you does.
The retained original is not promoted to verified memory, is not an independent source family, and does not increase corroboration on its own. Question-specific re-reading of a retained image may use the configured bounded vision provider; such answers remain uploaded-source claims unless KESTREL separately performs independent verification. KESTREL does not perform identity lookup or face recognition as part of this feature.
Separately, and only if you explicitly opt in on your account page, a de-identified, non-attributable candidate derived from an eligible workspace may be considered for a shared learning process after you delete that workspace. That opt-in is off by default, applies only to workspaces created after you turn it on, and does not affect the private retention described above. Read more in KESTREL's privacy documentation.
